Latest News 20 September 2002
After
our LG Cup success in Vietnam, we travelled to England to play
a couple of friendlies against the highly rated Reggae Boyz of
Jamaica.
Unfortunately, we were beaten 3-0 in the first game. To be fair
to our lads they worked hard, but were perhaps a little in awe
of the Jamaicans. Nonetheless there were several good individual
performances and we definitely raised our game.
In the second game, played at Molineux, we played out a 0-0 which
was a moral victory for us in many ways.
Next it was back to Delhi to play the first in a double header
against Uzbekistan.
Thanks to two lovely strikes from Baichung Bhutia we ran out 2-0
winners in the first game.
The second game ended on a sour note, however, as we went down
1-0, although I thought we were the better side overall.
However, this will not affect our preparations for the Asian Games,
which will be starting on 27 September with a game against Bangladesh.
That is followed by encounters with Turkmenistan on the 30 September
and then China on 3 October.
Thank you for reading. Hopefully, I’ll have good news to
report from Korea next time round!
