After what has been a very busy period for me I have at last found
the time to sit down and put a few words together.
As some of you will no doubt know by now I had been on a month’s trial
at Millwall FC a club in the English championship league. Recently that was
extended to the end of the season and of course I am delighted to have signed
the contract last week.
I feel it is important to say a few words and more importantly thank the manager
Colin Lee who has helped me a great deal in getting to grips with life in English
football, aside from being a very good coach he also has a great understanding
of the game and a lot of experience that I hope to learn from.
Dave Tuttle the assistant manager and Tony Burns the goalkeeping
coach have also been a great help in settling in and of course
it is very much appreciated. It is always hard going into a different
environment and you are always going to need people to help you
in one way or the other and the above mentioned have done just
that…..thanks lads.
Of course as coaches and managers we are only as good as the players
and our current position does not show that the players have been
working hard to try and improve things. I would also like to say
thanks to the players and hope they continue to try and turn things
around. I too must get used to the large amounts of banter most
of it coming my way I might add! As I try to adapt to the English
way of doing things.
As we go into the mini break we have at the moment, I am sure
everyone will be working hard to get fit again and start to prepare
for the next big game which is away to the table toppers Sheffield
United. There is no easy game in this division and we need to start
to win a few games and a win up there would be fantastic to say
the least.
Finally a special thanks to my lovely wife who as usual has put
my career before anything she does and puts up with it all. We
have three lovely girls and they are a real credit to their mother.
Until the next time be well and come on you Lions,
All the best
Stephen
