Stephen sign's two year deal in the precense of the Sudanese FA President Dr Kamal Hamid Shaddad
The Sudan will be my next port of call and I will officially begin my new job on the 27th of February. My first duty as Coach of the Desert Hawks will be to attend the biggest domestic game in the country when Al Hilal faces the current Sudanese Champions Merreikh. Both are represented in the African Champions League and so it promises to be a huge game with well over 50,000 fans expected.
I signed a two year deal on Sunday 15th of February in the Sudan and am really looking forward to getting back to work and to what will be a great challenge.
Sudan is in the final stages of the World Cup and African Cup of Nations qualifiers and in our group we face the might of Ghana along with Mali and Benin so some top games coming up. I will meet the lads around the 1st of March where we have a week together and get a friendly game in as we build up to the first game in the group on the 28 of March which is a home game against Mali, this will be followed by away games to Benin and then a home match against Ghana in June.
So it is going to be a very hectic schedule and I am really looking forward to it all. Sudan has some really very good players and made the African Nations Cup last time out so we will be trying to make it back to the Finals in Angola for the 2010 competition.
I will sign off for now and say thank you for all of you who have been very supportive in the last few months with emails and messages and it really is great to be back doing what I love best working with teams and winning football games….
