Latest News
December 16th 2003
Hi and welcome to this month's Latest News, after the Afro Asian
Games and the last 18 months a holiday was in order for a change
it was me and the girls and not the team that set off for Malaysia
and Singapore. A great time was had by all Malaysia and Singapore
are beautiful places and if you haven't been I strongly recommend
a visit there.
On the football side of things, the much awaited World Cup draw
has been announced and what a tough group we have been placed in.
Japan, Oman, and Singapore respectively. All are going to give us
problems of a different kind, in this group you have contrasting
styles of play and it should be interesting to say the least. One
team will qualify from this group and realistically is has got to
be between the two giants Japan and Oman. We will be no pushovers
however and any team thinking that will be making a serious mistake.
We will fight for every thing as we have done in my time here, the
motto being "we fear no one but respect everyone"
In other news our U17 made hard word of qualifying for the AFC
Championships in Japan to be held in September 2000. A disappointing
draw against Nepal 1-1 and beating the Afghans 4-0 were enough to
get us
through. Our performance was not too good but the result was and
we have plenty of time to improve and get better for the finals.
The National Indian league has also kicked off and with every one
beating every one else so far it looks like it is going to be an
exciting season.
Finally I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a
very Happy Christmas and a safe and Healthy New Year.
