Latest News 11 August 2002 What a month it’s been! After about 40 years and against all the odds, India has won a major football trophy – the LG Cup!
The boys were tremendous and really gave everything, completely refusing to give up. Our second and third goals came in the 78th and the 85th minute respectively, which gives you an idea of how long they continued to battle. Vietnam are well above us in the world rankings, so the result will improve our FIFA ranking at it was fully recognised event. The reaction back in India has been phenomenal. We are looking forward to our return when there will be thousands of people waiting to greet us. It should be a fantastic occasion. Stephen Constantine; National Team Coach India |
